Dominique’s work is concerned with the relations with the environment and its impact on us and all living things. She has been preoccupied with earthiness and groundedness as everything exists in a correlation with humans and nature. Dominique is both an assemblage artist and acrylic painter. She works with discarded and natural elements, mostly copper, rusty metal, papers or driftwood to create two dimensional compositions on birch panels. In these works, she likes to create abstract collages of mostly water landscapes. Lately Dominique has been trying to convey the essence of humanity though stylised bird paintings in acrylic. She describes herself as a beach wanderer of the great lakes where she finds pieces of driftwood reminiscent of a bird shape. She takes her finds to her studio and through ornithological research give a second life to pieces of driftwood that then becomes birds of the world little sculptures using recycled steel and copper. Dominique also creates florals and landscape with acrylic that have either an impressionistic or gestural quality. Dominique had her work showcased in various cities in Ontario.
